Kim's K9s

I am originally from England and have lived in New Zealand for a while. Both in England and New Zealand animals have been a big part of my life, from owning fish to rats, cats and dogs. My passion for animals really came to life for me once I moved to NZ and I decided to do some courses and studying. I attended Unitec for a couple of years doing a Certificate in Animal Care & a Certificate in Canine Behaviour & Training. I have also completed my Pet First Aid & CPR Certificate.

 

I then started my career within the Animal Industry by doing work experience for a dog training company and within that I got the amazing opportunity to work and train epilepsy assist dogs. I also did a few months work experience as a Vet Nurse, and got to assist with some pretty big surgeries. After I finished my studies I started working for Animates and worked my way up to assistant manager. From there I got picked to help set up a brand new pet store. I got to be a part of picking staff, stock, products, animals, I set up policies & procedures and helped with the layout of the store. It was an awesome thing to be involved in. I then went to Animal Control and was out on the road as an officer for a few years, I really enjoyed being out and about meeting and helping new people and their dogs. I have worked in Dog Day Cares and Pet Insurance and whilst I loved all these jobs I realised that I wanted to set up something on my own so in Feb 2017 I started Kim's K9s dog walking and training and haven't looked back!
